Actor Martin Short has given his first interview with his daughter by Katherine Short after death.
Katherine Short was found dead in her home in Los Angeles at the end of February. Authorities confirmed that Katherine committed suicide.
CBS Sunday Morning – program, Martin says that his daughter has suffered from mental health problems for a long time.
– This has been a nightmare for the family, but we have understood that both mental health problems and my wife’s cancer are illnesses.
– My daughter struggled for a long time with serious mental health problems, unstable personality disorder and other challenges. He did his best while it lasted.
Martin’s wife and Katherine’s mother Nancy Dolman was a Canadian comedian and actress. Nancy passed away in 2010 from cancer. Katherine was one of Martin and Nancy’s three adopted children.
Last words
The daughter’s last words to her father were heartbreaking and tragically echoed his wife’s last words. The actress broke down in tears while talking about her daughter’s last moments in the interview.
– Nani’s last words to me were: “Mart, let me go”, and she (Katherine) just said: “Dad, let me go”, Martin said brokenly.
In addition to the deaths of Katherine and Nancy, Martin has faced several other losses over the years. He said that the sadness has deepened especially since last year, when he lost both his close sister-in-law and several friends, such as by Diane Keatonby Rob Reiner, by Michelle Reiner and Catherine O’Hara.
Martin Short is remembered for films, among other things Father of the bride (1991) and Santa Claus 3 (2006). He has also appeared in series Only Murders in the Building (2021), Saturday Night Live and Second City Television.
