Douwe Bob has striking nutritional advice for the Netherlands: stop snacking and just open a can of tuna every day. “You don’t have to like it at all,” he explains.
33-year-old Douwe Bob says that because of his busy life he mainly looks for food that is fast, easy and rich in protein. And so he now swears by cans of tuna that he takes everywhere. He says he doesn’t even really like it, but according to Douwe, sometimes you just have to ‘cowboy the fuck up’ and eat things that are good for you.
Can of tuna
As a singer, Douwe is constantly on the road. “I’m fit, I train and exercise a lot. In my profession you come across a lot of rubbish. Fries, beer, chips, sweets, burgers. At a certain point you’re done with that.”
And so he looked for solutions, he says de Volkskrant. “Take a can of tuna. It contains a lot of protein, you can take it with you in your bag, and you don’t have to add anything. It’s everything you want.”
Proteins
Douwe says it is mainly about those proteins. “But it’s fish, so there are even more healthy things in it. Look, you shouldn’t overdo it, too much is never good.”
There are also heavy metals in fish, he admits. “And it’s not great for the environment, so I always choose the can with the most good catch quality marks. I always have a dozen cans at home. It has an extremely long shelf life.”
Ready to roll
Actually, according to Douwe, everyone should do this. “Look: you throw it in your bag, take a small fork with you, there is a little salt in it, you are immediately ready to roll. No, I can’t think of a cat food idea. I’m more of a dog person anyway.”
He concludes: “You have to like it. No, by the way, you don’t have to like it at all, I don’t like it either. Just stop whining that you don’t like it. Cowboy the fuck up and just take shit that’s good for you.”
