It is not known exactly what happened. However, a recovery vehicle has to come to the highway, causing traffic to come to a standstill and the left lane to close. The delay lasts approximately 45 minutes. Traffic is diverted via the Velsertunnel (A22). Traffic is now also at a standstill there.
The Badhoevedorp junction to the A4 towards Amsterdam is closed. There is a traffic jam of about 30 minutes between Badhoevedorp and Beverwijk-Oost.
ANWB reports the busiest rush hour of the year, with around 1,046 kilometers of traffic jams on Dutch roads. That it would be busy around Ascension Day the ANWB had predicted earlier today.
