The recall concerns Everyday free-range eggs (12 pieces) and Econom free-range eggs (30 pieces). The eggs were sold between April 15 and May 12.
Salmonella is a bacterium that mainly occurs in raw meat. The possible symptoms of a salmonella infection are fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhea and occur no later than two days after the infection.
Symptoms usually last four days to a week. Most people recover without specific treatment. Young children, pregnant women, people with reduced immunity and the elderly are at a higher risk of hospitalization.
Colruyt Group has now removed the eggs from sale. Customers who have already eaten the eggs and are showing symptoms are advised to consult a doctor. Anyone who returns the items to the store will receive a refund.
