The volunteers of the non-profit organization Save Askoy II were shocked when an original part of the famous sailing ship suddenly disappeared. It concerns a piece of the steel nose of the Askoy II, which lay for years in front of the restoration shed in Zeebrugge.
“It has great emotional value for the fans and restorers,” said Piet Wittevrongel of the non-profit organization Save Askoy II at the time. “We therefore made a warm appeal to look forward to the piece.”
