Wilfred Genee is absent from Today Inside for almost a whole week for the first time. He was still on yesterday’s broadcast, but he will be absent for the rest of the week. “Thomas sit here!”

It is a turbulent month for Today Inside: the trio will broadcast from Curaçao for two weeks from Monday, after which Hélène Hendriks will continue with De Oranjezomer for another week and a half, until the World Cup starts. However, one question keeps floating around: why? There is actually no reason at all.

Thomas in it

No one seems to understand why the entire talk show caravan suddenly has to move to the other side of the ocean, not even those directly involved, but according to Johan Derksen it is mainly to please the staff behind the scenes. In other words: a company outing, but with cameras on top.

In any case: Wilfred Genee is taking the plane to Curaçao today, because he will first record another program on the island prior to the broadcasts of Today Inside. And that means that there will be someone else in his place in VI for the next four evenings, namely permanent replacement Thomas van Groningen.

A bit sweet

Wilfred hopes that Johan Derksen in particular will be gentle with Thomas. “Be a little nice to Thomas, huh?” he asks him.

Johan: “No, we are very kind to Thomas. I also have confidence in Thomas.”

Wilfred: “Me too, absolutely.”

Johan: “Everything he has done so far, he does it properly. There are few at that age who do it so well.”

Wilfred: “Yes, I think so too.”

Johan: “As long as he doesn’t contradict me.”

On holiday

Wilfred then explains why he is leaving early. “To be clear: I’m going a little earlier because I’m also doing another program. Otherwise people will think: why is he going earlier? Is he going on holiday? Just working hard.”

René: “Do you record one or two every day?”

Wilfred: “One.”

René: “So then you have Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday? Then you record five?”

Wilfred: “Yes, from seven in the morning to eleven at night.”

Killing

Johan thinks that is a very strong work rhythm. “That’s killing.”

Table guest Valentijn Driessen is surprised: “What should you make then?”

Wilfred concludes: “An interview program, but in all kinds of locations. That will take some time!”
