Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson went crazy on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update – triggered by the Met Gala in New York and a spontaneously invented conspiracy theory about one of the 50 US states.

Carlson (Jeremy Culhane) ranted about the annual fashion and fundraising event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art while co-host Colin Jost and Michael Che sat by.

“Yeah, come on everyone, let’s prance around in our $100,000 clown costumes and watch the American empire crumble,” he said. “What are we doing here? What’s going on?”

Carlson vs. the Met Gala

“So you didn’t like this year’s Met Gala?” Jost asked.

“Yes, I loved it,” Carlson replied with mock enthusiasm, “because when I go to a museum, I don’t want to talk about history. No, I want to see The Rock in a skirt. Can you smell what The Rock is cooking? I do: It’s gender confusion. That’s the new rule. That’s the goal.”

When Jost asked if there were any looks that Carlson liked – such as Heidi Klum’s veiled statue – he immediately bit.

Statue of Liberty in burqa

“The left finally got what they always wanted: They put the Statue of Liberty in a burqa,” he said, seeming to have a lot of fun.

“What’s next: Will the Chrysler Building become the anti-Chrysler Building?” he added. “What’s going on here? What’s happening? Is this the New York we want to live in, Colin?”

Jost pointed out that Carlson lives in Maine – whereupon the conservative quickly came up with a conspiracy theory about his home state.

Maine conspiracy

“MAIN…E?” he spelled. “The ‘E’ is silent. But who silenced it? And why?”

“So what does this ‘E’ stand for?” Carlson continued. “Oh, I know it: “Euphoria.” And no, I don’t mean the feeling I get when I press ‘1’ for English.”
