The remainder of NAC – Heerenveen will be played in Friesland on Monday. The clubs, municipalities and the KNVB decided this together. The match must be completed and both a time and a location have now been found for this.
The match between NAC and Heerenveen was stopped twice due to fireworks being thrown onto the field. The second time the public realized that relegation was a fact due to different results, despite leading 2-0.
The match was stopped for the second time and not resumed. Afterwards there was a lot of discussion between the directors of both clubs. The outcome: the match, which lasts another 10 minutes, is completed in the Abe Lenstra Stadium. The match in Friesland restarts at half past three on Monday afternoon, behind closed doors.
“The KNVB has informed NAC and sc Heerenveen that the match must be completed, given the interests of the match for the Frisian team and its competitors,” NAC said in a statement. “Due to safety reasons, permission has not been given to play the match in Breda.”
