Recommendations of the Editorial team

Phoebe Bridgers returned to the stage Friday for her first solo performance in three years. At Liberty, a small club in Roswell, New Mexico, the singer-songwriter presented four new songs – presumably from the new album, which fans are already referring to as “PB3”.

Bridgers kept a low profile after finishing her tour with Boygenius – her supergroup with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker – and announcing the band’s hiatus in February 2024. The anticipation for their comeback is huge – and that also applies to fellow songwriter Noah Kahan. On

Kahan has never hidden his admiration for Bridgers’ music, especially around the release of her now-classic 2020 breakthrough album Punisher. Speaking to ROLLING STONE for his cover story interview in the June 2026 issue, he explained how the album shaped his own songwriting – most notably Bridgers’ brilliant sense of concreteness.

Kahan on Bridgers’ influence

“‘Punisher’ was the first album that made me think, ‘Wow, she’s really talking about things that I wasn’t there and I didn’t know about – but that’s what draws me in even more,'” he said. “And then I started listening to it, and I found this person in my own life who I might have had similar experiences with, or I could see myself in the lyrics. I started giving myself permission to be more specific. Phoebe does this so brilliantly, and I can’t wait for whatever she does next – she’s just incredible.”

When asked who he would most like to work with in the future, the answer should come as no surprise. “I think Phoebe would be amazing to work with,” he said. Fans are already plotting how this might come about – whether Kahan releases a deluxe version of The Great Divide with Bridgers as a feature, or something else entirely happens. Until then, we have no choice but to hope for a Chinese satellite.
