‘Ticking time bomb’ due to extreme dependence on American big tech: debit card payments without the US are virtually impossible, data consumers are also at risk

De Nederlandsche Bank is embracing a German company to keep sensitive data of Dutch people out of the hands of American tech companies where much of the data is now stored digitally. Much needed, experts say. According to them, a handful of American tech and payment giants have so much power over our daily lives that Dutch citizens, companies and governments are sitting on a ticking time bomb.
