As is known, the issue is the management of public order on the same day (17 May) and above all in the same place (the Foro Italico) as two important events such as the derby and the final of the Italian Internationals. The Serie A League had considered – as explained a few days ago by president Simonelli – that, considering that the derby cannot be played in the evening for safety reasons, the only possible solution was to have the match played on Sunday at 12.30, with a margin deemed sufficient to manage the outflow of fans and the influx of tennis enthusiasts.

However, the idea has turned up their noses at the Prefecture and Police Headquarters of Rome who have already begun to show doubts in recent days, hypothesizing a postponement. When? Monday would be fine, but without playing at night you could only play at 6pm, a time that fans don’t like at all (even more so those of the teams only indirectly involved in the issue) and aren’t even included in the TV rights slots. To force the matter, an ordinance from the Prefecture would be needed, which according to some would however be an admission of not being able to manage the safety of a double event.
