Lufthansa has announced that it will discontinue the flight connection between Bremen and Frankfurt am Main on July 1st.
The decision is part of an adjustment of the route network to “demand, economic efficiency and operational conditions,” said a Lufthansa spokeswoman upon request. The Lufthansa Group will still remain a “central provider” at the Bremen location.
The airport rated the decision as “very regrettable.” The route is an important connection to the Frankfurt hub. According to a spokesman, there are currently up to five flights daily from Bremen to Frankfurt.
According to the airport, Lufthansa says the connection is no longer economically viable. According to the airport, the group cited, among other things, the increased costs and the changed general conditions as reasons.
The Hanseatic city of Bremen and the airport are now in close contact with the airline, it was said. According to Bremen Airport, the discussions are particularly concerned with the reasons for the decision and its impact on the further development of Bremen’s connections.
