Zara Larsson was a guest on the “Today” show on Friday to open the Summer Concert Series and promote her new remix album “Midnight Sun (Girls Trip).” As she took the stage in front of the huge fan base, the presenters surprised her with a clip of none other than Mick Jagger, who had appeared on a separate show a few days earlier.

In the video, Jagger was asked which contemporary artists he was currently listening to. The rocker replied: “My son said to me, ‘Zara Larsson is making a big comeback.’ I said, ‘For me, she never left.'” Jagger added that he has been a fan since her 2018 hit “Ruin My Life,” adding, “When I’m in the mood, that’s exactly what I like.”

“I can’t believe it,” Larsson said after the clip. “It’s so nice to see everyone coming along on this journey.”

Grateful and in the moment

In the further broadcast, the 28-year-old Swedish pop singer looked back on her career. “Now that I’m older, I really practice being present and living in the moment,” Larsson said. “I feel like I’m really taking it all in and I’m really grateful and happy for everything that’s happening right now.” She also performed several songs for her fans, including “Midnight Sun,” “Pretty Ugly” and “Stateside” — and at one point invited co-host Sheinelle Jones on stage to join in on the “Lush Life” dance, which made for a memorable moment.

In February, Larsson received her first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording for “Midnight Sun.” The singer also has a number of summer festival appearances coming up, including the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend and Lollapalooza in Chicago.
