Billie Eilish reposted videos from factory farming in response to criticism of her veganism. What the singer is now telling her followers on Instagram.
Billie Eilish has publicly stated several times that she is vegan and values the lives of animals. She has avoided animal products since she was twelve years old. Most recently, she explained in an interview with “Elle” that it is contradictory to eat meat and at the same time claim to love animals.
This statement earned her some criticism. Many are of the opinion that their attitude comes from an elitist perspective and that veganism, as it is practiced today, is not affordable for everyone.
Clear words on Instagram
Now the singer spoke up again about the debate. On May 7th, she reposted Reels in her Instagram Story that unvarnished the keeping, mass breeding and slaughter of animals. She wrote: “So just stay mad at me, I don’t give a shit.”
She also gave her followers a tip: “Watch a documentary or two and see some footage of what’s being done to the animals you supposedly love and what that’s doing to the planet you also supposedly love. If you’re having a hard time watching this footage, I encourage you to please take a look at yourself. I’m so tired of the controversial nature of advocating for or having compassion for living beings. Please continue to live in a constant state of cognitive dissonance and denial and try to convince yourself that you’re not living a lie Mwah.”
A clear statement from the musician. On the same day, Eilish also celebrated the premiere of her concert film, which was made in collaboration with director James Cameron.
