The football season is coming to an end, but summer is often an exciting period for many football players. The transfer market opens in June and players can then be transferred. For some players it is already certain that they can look for a new club. Omroep Brabant lists ten Brabant football players who will run out of contract from this summer and can therefore look for a new club without a transfer.
Souffian El Karouani
The native of Den Bosch, and also a Moroccan international, is in his third season at FC Utrecht. The left back grew into one of the best in the Eredivisie in his position, where he is known for his good kicking technique. His transfer value has now increased transfermarkt.nl increased to 15 million euros, but due to his expiring contract, the 25-year-old will leave for free this summer to take a step higher. Rumors are that he will make the switch to the Middle East.
Vincent Janssen
For the 31-year-old striker from Oss, his adventure at Royal Antwerp FC seems to have come to an end. The Belgian club wants the expiring contact according to HLN would like to extend, but then Janssen will have to hand in a large part of his salary. According to the Belgian newspaper, the former top scorer of the Eredivisie is even considering ending his career after this season. Or will we see the man with 22 caps again on the Dutch fields?
Patrick van Aanholt
This left back is also transfer-free this summer and will be looking for a new destination. Van Aanholt was mainly on the bench at Sparta this year, so perhaps the 35-year-old is looking for a new sporting challenge. After clubs such as Chelsea, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and PSV, will he possibly return to his hometown: Den Bosch?
Jordy de Wijs
Played for years in the youth team of PSV, but did not make a real breakthrough in the first team. De Wijs opted for his money and left for the second in England. In recent years, the 31-year-old central defender has played for Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he mainly played a supporting role this season. RKC is said to already be in talks with De Wijs to entice him to return to Brabant.
Tom van Weert
A name that you could well have forgotten, or that you thought had been discontinued a long time ago. But the striker from Sint-Michielsgestel has been playing football in Greece for years, where he had his best seasons. At Volos NFC he even became the top scorer of the competition, which earned him a transfer to the Greek top club AEK Athens. Nowadays he plays for another club in Athens: Atromitos. This season he only managed to find the net once. Is this a good time for the 35-year-old to return to the Netherlands?
Mats Seuntjens
The Seuntjens brothers look both will be without a club this summer, but Ralf will most likely opt for a longer stay at Lommel SK. That’s a different story for Mats. He doesn’t get much time to play at FC Groningen and so an extension of his expiring contract seems unlikely. There is a good chance that the 34-year-old from Breda will look for a new club.
Clint Leemans
The 30-year-old midfielder from Veldhoven has often played as a central defender for NAC lately. But with the possible relegation of the Breda club in sight and his expiring contract, these seem to be Leemans’ last weeks at the club.
Sven Blummel
The footballer from Schijndel previously played for Jong PSV and FC Den Bosch, but has been wearing the blue and white of FC Eindhoven in recent years. That club has formally terminated his expiring contract and so the 29-year-old winger can also look for another club.
Boy Kemper
He may not have been born in Brabant, but he is the captain of NAC. The 26-year-old left back has indicated that he will not renew his contract with the Pearl of the South and is open to an adventure abroad. It is not yet clear which club it will be.
Roshon van Eijma
The RKC central defender is currently still in the middle of the crucial play-offs, but will play an even better tournament this summer. There is a good chance that we will see the 27-year-old defender from Tilburg in the starting line-up at the World Cup this summer. The Curaçao international hopes to do well there and then be able to move up on a transfer free of charge.
