Dejaegere has been the poster child for the West Flemish people for the past two years. The midfielder, a youth product of the UK, returned to the Guldenspoorstadion in the summer of 2024 after adventures with AA Gent (2013-2020), the French Toulouse (2020-2023) and MLS club Charlotte (2023-2024). He became national champion with Ghent in 2015. He previously started his professional career at Kortrijk between 2010 and 2013.

Perfect example of a Guy

In the first year of his return, he was immediately relegated from the Jupiler Pro League with Kortrijk. Dejaegere remained loyal to the club last summer and managed to be promoted immediately after one season in the Challenger Pro League. Kortrijk came second in 1B, after an undefeated Beveren. As captain, Dejaegere made 29 official appearances for Kortrijk, scoring twice and providing four assists.

Nils Vanneste, Kortrijk’s sporting director, was satisfied with Dejaegere’s contract extension. “Brecht is the perfect example of what it means to be a Guy. His experience and leadership make him invaluable to this group. He has played a crucial role in our promotion and remains an important figure within the club off the pitch.”
