The new Laarhove residential area in Zuidlaren can count on a subsidy of 300,000 euros from the province of Drenthe. The contribution is intended to carry out important work. This will enable the construction of 79 social housing units, among other things.

“With Laarhove, we are taking an important step in reducing the housing shortage in our region. Projects with many social rental homes are particularly needed,” says deputy Yvonne Turenhout (PvdA).

“This provincial contribution ensures that the municipality can remove the last obstacles so that construction can really begin,” says Turenhout.

The plan is to turn Laarhove into a green, future-proof residential area, on the back grounds of the former Prins Bernhardhoeve. That site lay fallow for years and was a major point of discussion in the municipality of Tynaarlo.

A total of 285 homes will be built, ranging from apartments to detached homes, for starters, families and the elderly.
