There are fewer and fewer childminders and the increasing number of places in group care cannot accommodate this, says Ferm. She held a campaign in Staden to highlight the attractiveness of the profession. Anja Bourgeois, Ferm Childcare: “We have a drawing campaign here. But at a certain point we run out of resources in the daycare. That is the point of this PR campaign.”
Prejudices
Many prejudices about the job of a receptionist are no longer correct, says Ferm. “With an employee status, childminders receive the same benefits as a regular employee. Such as a fixed salary, holiday pay and pension rights. It should make the profession more attractive again.”
Ferm has 1,400 childcare places throughout Flanders. But research shows that demand will increase in the coming years.
