“Preserving heritage is crucial, but it is at least as important that it continues to live and breathe for future generations. Showing more art to people, that is my goal. I will continue to invest in this and also reform, because no one has ever become better from standing still,” said Minister of Culture, Caroline Gennez.
Additional resources
The first plans for BRUSK date back to 2021. In that year, the Flemish Government awarded an investment subsidy of 27.2 million euros as part of the Flemish Relance Plan. These resources were intended for the realization of BRUSK, the BRON research center and the renovation of the museum site around the existing Groeninge Museum.
In 2024, the Groeninge Museum was disconnected from the original master plan. The additional resources needed to further complete this section are now available. The ministerial decision with the available resources will soon be signed by the minister.
