After leaving BVB in the summer of 2024, Edin Terzić is now returning as head coach. He signed a two-year contract in Spain.
Athletic Bilbao have hired Edin Terzić as their new coach. The 43-year-old will take over from long-time coach Ernesto Valverde in the summer and will have a contract until June 30, 2028.
The club confirmed the personnel on Tuesday. There had already been media reports in April about an impending agreement. Terzić will be introduced at the start of the new season.
Terzić began his coaching career at BVB in 2010 – initially as a youth coach. This was followed by positions as an assistant at Beşiktaş Istanbul and West Ham United. In 2018 he returned to Dortmund as assistant coach to Lucien Favre. After Favre’s dismissal, he took over the team as head coach and won the DFB Cup in 2021.
He started his second term in office for the 2022/23 season. This ended after the defeat in the 2024 Champions League final against Real Madrid (0-2). Most recently, Terzić worked as a TV pundit and was repeatedly linked to clubs looking for a coach.
