The planned turbines would reach a tip height of 230 meters. This is much higher than a previous project from 2016 by the same applicant, intermunicipal company Aspiravi. That previous file was ultimately destroyed by the Council of State in 2021.
Local residents are once again expressing concerns about possible consequences for health and the living environment, such as noise pollution, shadow shadows and vibrations. In addition, there is doubt about the current environmental legislation surrounding wind energy, which according to critics has not been sufficiently adapted despite previous legal objections.
A recently established working group is therefore organizing an information evening on Tuesday, May 5, at CC De Wissel in Zwevezele. There, experts and residents will share their experiences and an explanation of the project will be provided. The initiators emphasize that they remain in favor of renewable energy, but argue for a balance between sustainable development and the quality of life of local residents.
