The German duel between the two ex-national players Thomas Müller and Marco Reus in the MLS fell victim to a short-term illness of the ex-Bayern professional.

Müller sat injured in the stands when the Vancouver Whitecaps lost 1-1 (0-0) to the Los Angeles Galaxy. According to a spokesman for the Whitecaps, the 36-year-old professional footballer had a fever in the afternoon.

Reus, who was a few months younger than him, was in the starting line-up for Los Angeles, but was substituted as a precautionary measure at half-time when the score was 0-0.

Due to the draw in the Western Conference, the Whitecaps lost touch with league leaders San José Earthquakes with Timo Werner. However, the Canadians have played fewer games than the leaders.

The LA Galaxy took the lead in the 46th minute through Joseph Paintsil, but conceded an equalizer through Mathias Laborda (81′) shortly before the end and missed out on their fourth win of the season.

The team has been stuck in the bottom of the league table almost continuously since the championship two years ago.
