Comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her spouse Portia de Rossi are facing a special dilemma.
The couple would like to build new stable buildings on their farm, which is located in the Cotswolds of England.
Dreams are threatened by possible Roman-era ruins, news reports The Daily Mail and Page Six.
Based on historical maps and aerial photographs, “it is possible that there are still Roman remains in the area,” says the West Oxfordshire County Council’s archaeological team.
DeGeneres and de Rossi have applied for a building permit. Archaeologists insist that if one is granted, construction work should not begin unless archeology is present.
According to them, the couple would also be obliged to monitor whether archaeological discoveries are revealed during the construction work.
The couple has also applied for a building permit for a year-round riding arena. Both applications are currently being processed by West Oxfordshire Borough.
DeGeneres and de Rossi moved to England because Donald Trump won the presidential election for the second time.
The couple has made plans in case same-sex marriage is banned in the United States. If that happened, the couple would remarry in Britain. The comedian has told about it For The Guardian
Horse riding is Portia de Rossi’s favorite and long-time hobby. The picture was taken in Los Angeles, USA in 2013. PDO
