Hor attended a meeting onArtificial intelligence during the Science Festival in Rome, this year with the emblematic title “Chaos and Harmony”. Unfortunately, the disorder into which the world of geopolitics has fallen is more difficult to decipher than the Universe, but as always, science suggests a method to find a route between uncertainties and instabilityat least as long as we have faith in scientists who, despite fake news, continue to search for meaning and build knowledge.
Today it is easier to understand what the risks and benefits of Artificial Intelligence are than to find logic in certain human “intelligences” which unfortunately decide the destinies of humanity but just when the going gets tough we must turn to those who continue to think clearly in today’s jungle of alternative truths.
I sincerely thank the wisdom of two physicists: Antonio Zoccolipresident of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics, and Daniele Bonacorsiprofessor at the University of Bologna, for having illustrated in front of an audience of curious young people all the possibilities but also the dangers of AI which has now become a constant and intimate presence in our daily lives.
