It’s not May anymore inside. The space has been transformed into a warm, colorful December world, while outside the sun shines brightly on the site. The thermometer is 25 degrees outside, inside the temperature rises to about 30 degrees. Christmas in the heat, with lights, garlands and tables full of goodies.
Mixture of December songs
Santa hats move back and forth throughout the room. One visitor walks around with a Christmas tree on his head. A cheerful mix of Sinterklaas songs and Christmas classics sounds from the speakers. It’s strange and familiar at the same time. “It’s a bit contradictory, but it’s fantastic,” one visitor sums it up.
While the music blares through the tent, the dishes are passed around. Oliebollen, eggnog, fruit, ice cream and bitterballen are distributed. There is laughter, singing and clapping at the table. Here and there an older gentleman stands up, extends a hand, and, together with a lady, carefully shuffles between the tables. “It’s just one big party,” said the audience.
