A wildfire started on the Zuiderweg in Kerkenveld last night around 2.15 am. The fire brigade quickly brought the fire under control.
The fire had an area of approximately fifty square meters. After an inspection with a thermal imaging camera, the fire brigade was able to leave.
It has already happened four times in Drenthe this week. There was also a wildfire in a forest area in Wateren, Zuidwolde, Huis ter Heide and at the Baggelhuizerplas, west of Assen. The VRD has therefore increased the wildfire risk from Phase 1 to Phase 2.
