RTL Boulevard opens the frontal attack on Temptation Island now that the program has been taken over by Prime Video. “The question is why on earth it didn’t get out of the screening!”
Temptation Island was in the naughty corner of RTL for years, but due to commotion in the media, the channel eventually reluctantly said goodbye to this program. And that was quite a loss, because Temptation is still a great success. The seduction show has now been successfully taken over by competitor Prime Video.
‘Can’t be!’
However, there is now more hassle again, says Vivienne van den Assem in the opening of RTL Boulevard. She launches a fierce attack on the title stolen from RTL. “There is immediately a lot of trouble in paradise. The participating couple Burak and Nella have a child together and that detail was clearly missed by the makers of the reality show.”
Then former participants Mike and Evie enter the picture: “When you have a child, you wouldn’t participate in a program where there is a chance that you would split up? No, that’s not possible.”
For goodness sake
TV critic Rob Goossens finds it bizarre. “The question is why on earth it did not come out of the screening. We have just heard that it is part of the questionnaire. We know that the program has been under fire for several incidents.”
He continues: “That was of course even the reason for RTL to say: ‘Guys, give our share to Fikkie’, or in this case: Prime Video, but the fact that you then set up a screening in which something so essential does not materialize, that raises a lot of questions about the screening.”
Rancid television
According to Rob, it is and remains raunchy TV. “The vocabulary alone makes it clear: it is not about surviving, but about destroying. The voice-over talks about seducers who ‘win’ when they play a couple apart.”
“That was also the main reason why RTL said: ‘Well, not Temptation, and we will continue to do other programs that are on the same level in terms of entertainment.’ So if there is indeed a family involved that could be separated…
Ethical season
Temptation Island is presented at Prime Video by Rijk Hofman, Tim Hofman’s brother. “I am very happy that it stopped then and I am very happy that it has now been taken over by a party that did it ethically, otherwise I would never have been the host,” he said earlier.
Rob about this now: “We heard that it is the most ethical season of Temptation Island ever, but we still have to see where that ethical part will come!”
