Came out of the major league in 2025

1. FC Nürnberg has extended the long-term contract of high-flyer Piet Scobel. The original working document of the attacker, who moved to the club in January 2025, was valid until 2028 and, according to TM information, was extended by another year.

“Stories like Piet’s are becoming increasingly rare these days. We brought him out of the top league, he was formed in our U23 and eventually made the leap to the professionals in our club. He is therefore proof of what can be achieved through hard work and an environment that believed in him and supported him,” said sports director Joti Chatzialexiou. “Since he has been part of the club, he has always wanted to learn and has followed and implemented the coaching team’s plan with great enthusiasm. The reward for this was the jump into the professional team and his brace against Elversberg. We are convinced that Piet is far from having reached the end of his potential and are pleased that we can continue to work with him on his further steps in the future.”

Scobel, who, among other things, went through the youth department of FC St. Pauli, moved from the Hamburg upper division club Eimsbütteler TV to the U23 team of 1. FC Nürnberg in January 2025. There he attracted attention with 22 goals in 29 games and has been part of the professional squad since the end of 2025. The 21-year-old scored two goals and one assist in 18 second division games. His market value increased from 100,000 to 600,000 euros over the course of the season.

Scobel said about his contract extension: “Since I moved to the club, I have done everything to take advantage of the opportunity that was offered to me. I am very grateful to those responsible that FCN has given me this opportunity and now wants to continue working with me. I will continue to pursue my goals in order to become an even better striker in the future.”
