A West African chimpanzee was born in Eindhoven Zoo on the night of Sunday to Monday, the zoo announced on Thursday and shared images of the baby monkey. Chimpanzees naturally live in the forests of Central and West Africa and are classified as critically endangered on the IUCN red list. The numbers are declining due to deforestation, expansion of agriculture and mining, but also due to illegal trade and poaching.
