Will Gerrard take over?

Burnley FC and coach Scott Parker have agreed to end their cooperation after the mathematical relegation from the Premier League. Mike Jackson will take over on an interim basis for the last four games, and a new coach will then be sought for the new season.
The 45-year-old Parker took over the Clarets in September 2024 as Vincent Kompany’s successor and led them back to the Premier League last year. This season, with the lowest squad value in the league, they were stuck in the bottom of the table for almost the entire time; the 0-1 (0-1) against Manchester City last weekend sealed their third relegation after 2022 and 2024.
“It has been a great honor to lead this great club for the last two years. I have enjoyed every moment of our time together, but I believe it is now time for both sides to go their separate ways,” said Parker, who leaves with a points average of 1.50 from 88 games. “I look back with great pride at what we have achieved during my time at the club, particularly our unforgettable promotion season in 2024/25, and it has been a true honor to lead this team to the Premier League.” Steven Gerrard, among others, has been discussed as a possible successor in recent days.
