It is now clear that Jan Slagter hates Tina Nijkamp and he never misses an opportunity to express that. “Tina Telraam shouted that it was nothing!”

Over the past two weeks, Jan Slagter has broadcast a daily version of Heel Holland Bakt. It was successful, but not a roaring success. The regular weekly edition on Sunday evening always scored much better. According to critics, Heel Holland Bakt is really a TV event that you want to see on the broadcast evening itself, and then every day too much.

However, MAX boss Jan has no regrets. “This lends itself very well to a daily TV series. It’s great to watch, it’s a bit shorter. There are only two assignments.”

He continues Show news: “Some people shouted: ‘It won’t work at all’, and Tina Telraam says: ‘Oh, that’s not possible, a daily!’ Well, you now see that with postponed viewing we simply have 1.2 to 1.3 million viewers.”

Very good

Tina is quite positive. “The viewer likes it. 1.2 million viewers is of course very good. What you do see is that it is viewed less linearly, so on the day itself.”

She continues: “It has a lot of delayed viewers and that perhaps indicates that people would rather see it at 8:30 PM than at 9:30 PM and that indicates that I think the NPO will think carefully about whether to make this an annual event.”

One-off excursion

Will Jan also broadcast the regular Heel Holland Bakt – a kind of all-stars version has been shown in recent weeks – daily? “I’m not saying we’ll continue to do this, but this was a nice, one-off trip and it turned out very well.”

If this is continued, RTL Boulevard reporter Aran Bade believes that at least the time should be changed. “I thought it felt a little different at 9:30 p.m., because Heel Holland Bakt is always at 8:30 p.m., so that worked a little less for me, but I really enjoyed seeing those former candidates again,” he says in RTL Boulevard.

No time

Aran himself also thinks a daily frequency is a bit much. “The problem is that if you were to repeat this, you would hardly have time to watch it all. It’s nice to know: on Sunday evening there is Heel Holland Bakt, and then you sit in front of the TV with the family or people in an old-fashioned way.”

He concludes: “I think that is the strength of Heel Holland Bakt. You could also see it reflected in the viewing figures. It had 890,000 viewers on Friday, but what is striking is that it is mainly rewatched.”
