Laura Philipp spends the first days of the new season not in the training camp, but in the hospital bed. The 39-year-old has health problems.
Severe stomach and back pain forced Ironman world champion Laura Philipp into hospital during her altitude training camp. The 39-year-old reported to Instagram from her hospital bed – and also gave an update on her condition.
The Heidelberg resident wrote on the social network: “Instead of starting my new year as planned with a lot of training in the beautiful mountains, severe stomach and back pain forced me to spend the last few days in the hospital.” She also published a photo of herself in the hospital bed. She is “slowly getting better, I can eat and drink again and hope to get back to my old shape soon.” She hopes that “my new year will be with a little less drama from now on.”
Philipp’s season planning includes a start at the Challenge Roth on July 5th. The highlight of the year is the World Cup in Hawaii on October 10th. At the last two World Championships on the Big Island – 2023 and 2025 – the currently best German long-distance triathlete won bronze. In between, she won the title at the alternative location in Nice.
