23-year-old forward of the Ottawa Senators Ridley Greig now comments on the questionable trick he did the night before Sunday.
Greig made headlines in Game 4 of the first round of the playoffs against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The heated match saw several clashes, but one situation clearly stood out, and it was not in a positive way for Greig.
In the situation Greig’s teammate Warren Foegele was wrestling the Hurricanes by Sean Walker with when Greig came in from the sidelines and hit Walker on the head. Moments later, as the situation continued, he struck again.
The Senators lost the game and were eliminated from the playoff series in the process. At the end of the season event organized on Monday, Greig commented briefly on the incident.
– I could control my emotions better. That’s all I’ll say about it.
The attacker also said that he has not been in contact with Walker since the incident.
No penalty was given for the situation, as the referees were busy handling other clashes in the middle of the riot.
On Sunday, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced that Greig would be given a hearing for his actions.
Greig was asked if he had seen any reactions to the incident on social media. He downplayed it, stating that he doesn’t use the apps much enough to see such a thing.
– Fortunately, I have never been very active on social media. I try to stay away from it all. [Huomio] doesn’t really bother me too much.
