In addition to his TV work, Thomas van Groningen also moonlights as a record player, but with his salary he does not impress his TV colleagues. “Can we move on to another topic?!” he shouts.

TV work is fun while it lasts, but in Hilversum everyone knows how quickly things can turn upside down and so many stars are building their snack network. From presentations to party tents and DJ sets: nothing is too crazy for them. Thomas van Groningen happily participates as a carnival artist and record player, and was behind the controls last weekend.

4,000 euros

Hélène Hendriks asks The Orange Sunday what he captures with his DJ performance in front of a packed square. “What do you charge for his performance? What is your wage? What do you rake in on such an evening?”, says the presenter.

Thomas then uncomfortably: “You just throw that Talpa contract on the table!”

Hélène: “No, I still have to sign that.”

Rutger Castricum: “Is it 2,000 or 4,000 euros?”

Bottom

Thomas ashamedly admits that he asks for much less. “No, less. I’m at the bottom of the market. I’m not very expensive.”

Hélène: “500 euros?”

Thomas: “Yes, yes, yes.”

Rutger: “But for such a group of people! Are you there for 500 euros?”

Thomas: “Yes, yes, yes.”

Hélène bewildered: “Nooooo?!”

Business inconvenient

Thomas finds it unpleasant. “Can we move on to another topic?! No, this is seriously true. I’m not very good at business. I recently got reprimanded from Wilfred and Dave, because they sometimes ask me to talk about something and I always say: ‘Yes.'”

“And Wilfred then says: ‘You’re crazy! You have to ask five times as much!’ So I am now also on Showbird (Wilfred’s platform, ed.), but for a higher amount.”
