Six major supermarket chains in Mechelen are launching an ambitious pilot project in which white mushrooms are sold exclusively in reusable containers. As a consumer you pay 30 euro cents extra, but when you return the container, you recover that amount. “This is an important step for reusable packaging, because Europe wants to significantly reduce single-use packaging for fruit and vegetables by 2030,” says Valerie Bruyninckx, spokeswoman for Fost Plus.
