Thanks to a largely confident performance against the Rostock Seawolves, FC Bayern Munich has extended its lead in the Basketball Bundesliga.
Head coach Svetislav Pesic’s team triumphed 86:64 (44:27) and celebrated their 25th success in their 30th game.
In the fight for first place after the main round, the defending champion has two more victories before the clash with Alba Berlin next Friday than the pursuer, who has also played one more game.
After a strong opening phase and a 6-0 series at the start of the second period, the home team moved ahead to 31:16. David McCormack dunked to give the team a comfortable 17-point lead at halftime.
However, the Mecklenburgers were not yet defeated. Rather, coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz’s team visibly caused problems for the defending champions after the break. After two three-pointers from TJ Crockett, Munich’s lead was only five points.
In the final period, however, the hosts made things clear again and sealed the Seawolves’ fifth defeat in a row.
