Fenerbahçe part ways with coach Domenico Tedesco. The defeat in the derby against Galatasaray fell on the German coach’s feet. However, he is not the only one who has to go.
Domenico Tedesco is no longer the coach of Fenerbahçe Istanbul. The club announced this on its website. In a short press release, the club announced the end and thanked them for their “commitment to our club”. At the same time, the 40-year-old was wished much success for his professional future.
With three games left in the Turkish championship, Fenerbahçe is now seven points behind Galatasaray and therefore has an extremely slim chance of winning the title. That will also have been the decisive reason for the dismissal.
Tedesco only took over the team on the fifth matchday of the current season, so he was only able to complete a short preparation with the team in the winter and now has to leave again.
He was hired by athletic director Devin Özek. The German manager joined Fenerbahçe last summer and now has to leave the club too. When signing, Fenerbahçe announced that the club wanted to reposition itself and that Özek should be part of it as “one of the rising stars of German football”.
