Missy Bo Kearns recently announced her pregnancy. Then she lost the baby. Now she’s talking about it.

England international Missy Bo Kearns spoke emotionally about her miscarriage in an interview. “We had to go through hell in hospital in Birmingham for three or four days,” the 25-year-old told ITV News. “I think we’ve only now fully understood what we’ve been through.”

The Aston Villa midfielder and her partner Liam Walsh, who is under contract with Luton Town, made the pregnancy public on March 1st. A few weeks later they lost the baby.

On March 18, Kearns visited Aston Villa’s training ground to see her teammates and work on her fitness. However, she felt unwell and contacted the team doctor. “I had a fever of 42 degrees and was shaking all over. We went to the hospital and there we immediately found out that we had lost the baby,” explained Kearns, who had also developed sepsis. “It was a shock. My whole life changed from one moment to the next.”

Kearns said she was grateful to the team doctor for the advice to go to the hospital immediately. “I’m so grateful to the doctors here at Villa because if I had been home that day and called my mom and said, ‘I’m feeling a bit cold,’ everyone probably would have just said, ‘Get some sleep,’ or something.” Kearns still struggles with the psychological trauma, she said. “We’ll never know why.”

Kearns has made three international appearances for the “Lionesses” and has been playing for Aston Villa since 2024. The Liverpool native started her career at Liverpool FC and played for the “Reds” for six years before moving. Now her sporting career is temporarily in the background for tragic reasons.
