Atmane has entered the top 50

Terence Atmane was able to win two matches for the first time in Madrid this year after only one win in his two previous clay court appearances. With Miomir Kecmanović and Ugo Humbert, the Frenchman also beat two well-known players. The 24-year-old is best known for his powerful and often creatively used forehand, with which he can generate large angles and a lot of spin. The left-hander has been steadily rising in the world rankings for some time now and has been in the top 50 for the first time in his career in a few weeks.

    Zverev is looking for stability

Sascha Zverev got off to a decent start to the clay court season. The 29-year-old reached the semi-finals of both the Masters in Monte Carlo and the home game in Munich. There he had to admit defeat once again to Jannik Sinner and finally to the brilliant Flavio Cobolli. On the way to the semi-finals, Zverev showed some strong matches, but also had sets in which little came together. At the start here in Madrid, the German also took a playful time out against Mariano Navone from Argentina after a dominant first set, but ultimately won 6:1, 3:6 and 6:3.
