BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – The AfD is reaching a high in the current “Sunday trend” from the polling institute Insa. The party achieved 28 percent in the survey, which the institute conducts weekly on behalf of “Bild am Sonntag”. This is one percentage point more than the previous week and the strongest value that Insa has measured for the AfD to date.
The Union remains at 24 percent, the SPD at 14 percent. The Greens lose one percentage point and fall to 12 percent, the Left remains at 11 percent. The BSW and FDP remain at 3 percent each and would miss out on entering parliament if a new Bundestag were elected. For the Sunday trend, Insa surveyed 1,203 people from April 20th to 24th. According to the information, the survey is representative.
Since the other parties rule out cooperation with the AfD, according to Insa, majorities capable of governing would only be possible in three-party alliances: the Union, SPD and Greens together would have 50 percent, the Union, SPD and Left would have 49 percent.
Highest value to date of 27 percent at YouGov
In surveys by other institutes such as the Elections Research Group (ZDF “Politbarometer”), Forsa and YouGov, the AfD had recently become the strongest force ahead of the Union. It had achieved its highest value to date at 27 percent on YouGov, while the Union achieved 23 percent in the survey. YouGov surveyed a total of 2,178 eligible voters between April 10th and 13th.
Election surveys are generally subject to uncertainty. Among other things, weakening party ties and increasingly short-term voting decisions make it more difficult for opinion research institutes to weight the data collected. In principle, surveys only reflect the opinion at the time of the survey and are not forecasts of possible election results./wn/DP/he
