Youp van ‘t Hek causes annoyance with his periodic appearances at Eva Jinek’s talk show table. It’s a lot of grumpy stuff in the studio, says Evert Santegoeds. “An upside-down smiley.”
Eva Jinek launched a new guest duo last fall: Splinter Chabot and Youp van ‘t Hek. They travel the country for her program in search of the most beautiful exhibitions. Although Youp has retired as a comedian, this way he can still remain in the spotlight. He won’t do it for the money.
Sickly
However, private boss Evert Santegoeds doesn’t like their column at all. He thinks Youp is grumpy. “God, that man looked like an upside-down smiley! Ohhh, I was looking at Eva Jinek and that man… When he is on screen, he is so grumpy. Then the corners of his mouth are completely down,” he says in the podcast Strictly Private.
Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden thinks it’s crazy. “How is that possible? Is he a bit grumpy?”
In Sicily
Evert doesn’t understand what Youp is still doing on TV. “Yes, I don’t know. I thought he was going to say goodbye and go live in Sicily, but he is here very often. Every time he goes to a museum with Splinter Chabot. They have a lot of fun with that, but I don’t really understand it.”
Jordi: “You don’t think it’s good for Eva’s ratings?”
Evert concludes: “Well, they don’t suffer from it, I think. They suffer more from Eus, I think, because I really can’t look at that.”
