Former ski jumper Adam Malysz48, leaves the position of chairman of the Polish Ski Association, reports a Polish newspaper Fact.
Malysz started his job in 2022, when he replaced his former coach by Apoloniusz Tajner.
According to Fakt magazine, the four-time World Cup winner’s decision not to apply for the next season shocked Polish winter sports circles.
Malysz, also known as “Viiksivallu”, admitted to the newspaper in April that the position of chairman does not promote his health.
– I do not hide the fact that all this does not promote health, not to mention the time that must be sacrificed for this.
However, the hill-jumping legend does not justify leaving the chairman’s position due to health concerns, but the reason is different views with the board.
– My view of what this should look like is not consistent with the government’s, so my decision is negative. I’m not running for office.
Before becoming president, Malysz was in charge of ski jumping and the combined national team. It is not yet known if he plans to return to that job.
– I haven’t thought about it yet, we still have a lot to do.
Malysz started his career in 1995. He ended his career in 2011. Over the years, he has won a total of 39. In addition to his World Cup victories, he has four Olympic medals and six World Championship medals.
