Transfer planning for the new season is already underway at Borussia. An old friend could soon return to Dortmund.
Will Borussia Dortmund make a spectacular return? As the pay TV broadcaster Sky reports, Jadon Sancho has fundamentally agreed to a move to his old place of work. The Englishman could play for BVB again soon.
Rumors about Sancho and BVB have been circulating for weeks. According to the report, there have now been new discussions regarding a transfer. Dortmund now has all relevant information about the player, who has signaled his willingness to return – despite other offers. Sancho is said to have many inquiries from all over the world.
According to Sky, BVB coach Niko Kovač has also already agreed to a transfer. Now the deal depends primarily on the new sports director Ole Book and sports director Lars Ricken.
What speaks for the return from BVB’s point of view: Sancho, who is currently on loan from Manchester United to Aston Villa, would be available inexpensively. Since his contract with the “Red Devils” is expiring, the Bundesliga club would not have to pay a transfer fee for him. In 2021, United transferred 85 million euros to Dortmund for the 26-year-old’s services.
Sancho once experienced the most successful phase of his career at BVB. Between 2017 and 2021 he played in 137 games for the “Black and Yellows”. He scored 50 goals and 64 assists. The time was crowned with the DFB Cup victory in 2021.
In the second half of the 2023/2024 season, BVB loaned Sancho from Manchester for six months. At that time, Sancho scored three goals in 21 games and set up three more. More scorer points in the BVB jersey could soon follow.
