The GGL is enforcing a fine of 250,000 euros against Capital Bra for advertising illegal online gambling on social media.

The Berlin rapper Capital Bra is the focus of the authorities: because of alleged advertising for illegal online gambling, the artist is to pay a fine of 250,000 euros. The measure was imposed by the Joint Gaming Authority of the States (GGL) and has already been enforced.

Accusations: Live streams and advertising for illegal providers

According to the GGL, the rapper repeatedly published content on his social media channels in which he himself took part in unauthorized online gambling and at the same time promoted it. This includes, in particular, live streams and videos in which corresponding platforms were shown or linked.

The authority considers the mere showing of such content to be advertising. What is important is not whether there are classic advertising partnerships, but rather whether the content is “suitable to promote participation in gambling offers”.

No reaction from the rapper

The proceedings against Capital Bra have been ongoing since October 2025. According to GGL, the musician did not respond to a hearing or a subsequent prohibition order. A threatened penalty payment also remained unanswered.

The consequence: The authority set the fine in order to enforce the order. Importantly, such a fine is not legally considered a punishment, but rather as a means of pressure to stop illegal behavior.

Handover at the concert

Particularly explosive: the official notification was not sent to the rapper by post, but directly at a concert. With the support of the police, the letter was handed over at an appearance on April 18, 2026 in Wiesbaden. A clear signal from the authorities. GGL board member Ronald Benter explained: “We don’t shy away from well-known names.”

The GGL emphasizes that entertaining content such as streams can also be considered advertising if they present corresponding offers in a positive manner. The aim is to protect consumers from risks such as gambling addiction and financial losses. Illegal providers are not subject to government control and do not offer sufficient player protection.

The rapper has not yet made a public statement on the allegations.
