Victoria Police confirm investigation into Katy Perry following allegations from Ruby Rose.
Katy Perry has dominated the headlines in a negative way over the past few days. Model Ruby Rose accused her of sexual harassment at a nightclub in the Australian city of Melbourne. The alleged incident occurred over 20 years ago and is now causing a huge amount of conversation. The singer’s team has already commented on the allegations, calling them “dangerous lies” and “categorically false.” Now, however, the local authorities are getting involved.
Police investigations in Australia
The “Roar” interpreter is currently facing increasing pressure. While the media response to the case is largely directed against them, the police in Melbourne have also intervened and are investigating the case.
Victoria Police confirmed this in a statement: “Detectives from the Melbourne Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) are investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010. Police have been advised that the incident occurred at a licensed premises in inner-city Melbourne. As the investigation is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
Another statement from Ruby Rose
The actress also spoke out again on April 14, 2026. In her earlier statement, she initially stated that she did not want to contact the police, but then changed her mind and announced that she wanted to go to a police station. In a new statement via Threads, she stated that she had contacted the authorities with all the necessary information.
The statement said: “Latest information on this: As of this afternoon, I have completed all of my reports. This means that I am no longer allowed to comment publicly on these cases or the people involved, share posts about them or talk about them. This is a normal request from the police and in many ways a great relief. I can now begin the healing process. And temporarily look forward.”
More allegations against Katy Perry
There has been no new statement from the artist regarding the ongoing investigations. Since the allegations were announced, she has been exposed to a media crossfire in which other alleged incidents from the past have once again come into the public eye.
In 2018, for example, she was accused by model Josh Kloss of exposing him in front of other employees during a music video shoot in 2010. At the same time, Georgian TV presenter Tina Kandelaki claimed that the now 41-year-old tried to kiss her during a party.
