Grogu is coming to the cinema! The final trailer for “Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu,” a spinoff of the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” was released on Thursday and continues the adventures of bounty hunter Din Djarin (played by the mostly masked Pedro Pascal) and “Baby Yoda.”
The action-packed, two-minute clip features the Clan of Two, who are tasked by New Republic Colonel Ward (sci-fi icon Sigourney Weaver) with tracking down Imperial warlords who have scattered across the galaxy following the fall of the Empire.
In the trailer, fans experience the live-action premiere of Rotta the Hutt (voiced by Jeremy Allen White) from the 2008 animated “Clone Wars” film – plus breakneck chases, lots of cute Grogu moments and a wise Pascal telling his young protégé: “The old protect the young, and then the young protect the old.”
Favreau directs
The film is directed by Jon Favreau, who created the series and wrote the majority of its episodes; he also directed the first episode of the second season of The Mandalorian. Favreau co-produced the project with Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni and Ian Bryce, while Karen Gilchrist, John Bartnicki and Carrie Beck served as executive producers.
“I loved telling stories in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau said in an earlier statement. “The prospect of bringing The Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is incredibly exciting.”
“The Mandalorian and Grogu,” with a score by Ludwig Göransson, hits theaters on May 22nd.
