Now, however, the 41-year-old musician is in the headlines with a much more negative issue: she is facing allegations of sexual abuse from actress Ruby Rose. There was now a statement in which Katy Perry’s team found a clear answer.
Allegations are “categorically false”
Ruby Rose made the allegations in a comment on an Instagram thread that featured the “Firework” singer’s reaction to Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance. The alleged incident described by the actress occurred 20 years ago in a club in the Australian city of Melbourne: “Katy Perry sexually harassed me in the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who cares what she thinks.”
The accused didn’t wait long for an answer. A spokesman for the US artist spoke out and called the 40-year-old a liar: “The claims that Ruby Rose is spreading about Katy Perry on social media are not only completely false, but also dangerous, careless lies. Ms. Rose is known for making serious public allegations against various people on social media – claims that have been repeatedly rejected by those affected.”

Ruby Rose didn’t stop at the comment she posted on Threads. What followed was a detailed description of the incident and what happened afterwards. Regarding the situation in the club itself, when asked if she was kissed without consent, she wrote: “She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘laying’ on my best friend’s lap to get out of her way, leaned over, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until I opened my eyes and puked all over her.”
The Australian also discussed what happened after the alleged assault and why she didn’t make it public much earlier. When she subsequently told others about it, she turned what had happened into a “funny little drinking story” because she didn’t know how “else to deal with it.” Ruby Rose added: “Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I TOLD you guys she wasn’t a good person.”
Is a legal battle brewing?
The pop star responded to the “Orange Is the New Black” actress’ allegations by accusing her of defamation. Legal repercussions are already in the air.
When asked if she was afraid of a lawsuit from Katy Perry, Ruby Rose replied, “She’s welcome to sue me (she won’t because it actually happened, I have photos of it, and it literally happened in public and was witnessed by multiple people),” adding that there was “so much more that happened” that “she doesn’t want me to talk about.”
