“Saturday Night Live” celebrated the NASA Artemis II crew’s safe return to Earth with a skit in which an astronaut attempts to record a sober video message – and is thrown off course by his completely non-serious colleagues.

SNL host Colman Domingo plays pilot Victor Glover, whose video diary begins with him showing Earth through the spaceship window on the ninth day of the 10-day trip around the moon.

“Seeing our planet like that is pretty profound,” he says. “As a person of faith, it definitely brought me closer to God.”

Pringles in space

But the first of many distractions soon comes into view: a red Pringles can.

“Come on, guys!” he shouts. “You have to climb your snacks onto the wall.”

Astronauts Reid and Hansen (Marcello Hernandez, Mikey Day), who are “pretty bored,” argue over food.

Sleeping colleague, screaming colleagues

Shortly thereafter, Glover’s attempt to read a quote from Apollo astronaut Jim Lovell is interrupted by Reid, who displays his Canadian flag as astronaut Christina (Sarah Sherman) floats by, sleeping and snoring.

After Glover pushes them aside, Reid and Hansen return for a round of No Hands Hat.

Glover doesn’t finish his Sally Ride quote either: Christina – still sleeping – reappears in the picture, this time with a Sharpie scribble on her face that Reid and Hansen left there.

The penis problem

Then Reid comes to Glover with a problem.

“Hey Victor, my cock is stuck in the hose again!” he says excitedly and holds up the device. “You have to get him out, Victor, please!”

Victor is at the end of his patience at this point.

“I don’t know, man, deal with it yourself!” he says. “I’m filming my video!”

“My only hope for everyone on Earth is this,” he concludes – whereupon Hansen pulls Reid around on the hose, forcing him to take a shortcut. “Everyone: Be nice to each other. Over.”
