“Saturday Night Live’s” Weekend Update grilled Vice President JD Vance over his failed attempt to negotiate a deal with Iran to end the war and a strange analogy, which he had made about his wife Usha.
Vance left Pakistan on Sunday after 21 hours of inconclusive negotiations, saying the Iranians had “chosen not to accept our terms.” What follows after the two-week ceasefire agreed on Tuesday – after Trump threatened to destroy Iranian civilization – remains unclear.
“Guys, I think they’re really done with each other this time, you can tell by the way his mascara is running,” Michael Che joked as an edited photo of the vice president with smudged eyeliner flashed on the screen.
Jost’s reaction to Vance
Colin Jost then drew attention to Vance’s response to the reporter’s question about Iran’s “right” to enrich uranium.
Vance had said: “My wife has the right to go skydiving, but she won’t jump out of a plane because we have an agreement that she won’t – because I don’t want my wife to jump out of a plane.”
Jost, who called the analogy “a little strange,” responded: “What the hell are you talking about? The only thing that makes sense in this whole analogy is that we can all understand why JD Vance’s wife feels the urge to jump.”
Che about Melania and Epstein
Che then turned to first lady Melania Trump’s surprise speech on Thursday, in which she denied a relationship with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and dismissed reports that Epstein introduced her to Donald. Che’s punchline: “Because they actually met when Trump broke into their shipping container.”
