Arjen Lubach should leave RTL 4 and move exclusively to Videoland to create the best starting position for Renze Klamer, TV authority Tina Nijkamp advises. “Dramatic.”
It is now clear to everyone that Arjen Lubach adds little to RTL 4. Not only does he score extremely disappointing linearly compared to his years on NPO 1, but he also does not match the target group of the commercial channel at all, which means that a lot of people tune out after his late-night program.
“He’s walking back!”
Arjen’s viewing figures are disappointing, says TV authority Tina Nijkamp in her podcast The Media Week. “Yes, that’s right. Lubach is declining linearly. No one is really talking about it. This season is really completely dramatic. There has not been a single broadcast that has actually made the news.”
About 500 thousand people watch it. “It must be said that including delayed viewing does score well. It often exceeds a million, but of course less money is earned from it. It is really about watching live linear television, and so the question really arises: shouldn’t Lubach go to Videoland?”
Away from RTL 4
Is it better to let Arjen leave RTL 4 to work exclusively on Videoland? “I would say: yes. Lubach should go to Videoland, because yes, you can also see from the inflow and outflow that Lubach is an island. It does not match at all with all other RTL 4 programs. It is an island that RTL 4 has purchased and that is therefore of no use to you as a channel.”
She continues: “In fact, Renze will also suffer greatly from this. And of course Renze will score better than RTL Tonight, but with Lubach in front, Renze will not be able to exceed 550,000 viewers.”
Island of Lubach
Lubach is a kind of island at RTL and Renze cannot score if he remains the lead-in, according to Tina. “That is simply not going to work and that is a great shame, because that means that it will not score better than Pauw & De Wit and VI anyway. That is almost impossible, so RTL: just put Lubach on Videoland.”
Videoland would also benefit a lot from that, she concludes. “You see that they did not gain many subscribers in the last six months of 2025.”
What if that move actually happens? “Then Renze can open a bottle of champagne!”
